John
serves as Chief Executive Officer of Northwest Requirements Utilities.
NRU
consists of 52 consumer or publicly owned utilities in 7 states that
rely upon the Bonneville Power Administration as their primary or
exclusive source of power, and for transmission service.
NRU
members represent nearly 1,700 aMW of loads placed on the BPA system.
NRU
participates in all major BPA public endeavors as an advocate for Full
Requirement or Block power purchasers of energy.
As of
July 2007, he also serves as Chief Executive Officer of NRU Consulting
Services, L.L.C., a subsidiary of Northwest Requirements Utilities, that
provides bi-lateral consulting services to the members of NRU for
electrical power supply, transmission services, and related activities.
For the
past 14 years
John
Saven has provided staff support to
NRU
members, as well as staff services for the members of Northwest
Irrigation Utilities. In
addition he has offered bi-lateral consulting services to utilities
through Northwest Utilities Research Inc.
Between
1983 and 1992, he served as Deputy Superintendent for Finance and
Administration at
Seattle
City Light, and from 1980 to 1982 was the Budget Director of
Seattle.
Between
1974 and 1979 he served in other positions of increasing responsibility
in the Budget Office, and from 1972 to 1974 worked as a Legislative
Policy Analyst for the
Seattle
City Council.
During
1996, John served as a Steering Committee member of the Governors'
Comprehensive Regional Review of the Northwest electric industry, and
co-chaired the Federal Power Marketing task force of the Regional
Review.
In 1998
he received the Public Power Council’s Public Power Person of the Year
Award, and in 2007 received the Northwest Public Power Association
Distinguished Service Award.
